Golf isn't the only delight you'll find in the Mt. Shasta area. Mount Shasta and its immediate vicinity have many recreational activities to offer. Even the most avid golfer will feel obligated to bring more than a set of clubs. If you want to work on your backhand, you never have to leave the resort. Four on-site beautifully maintained tennis courts are available to guests. The Sacramento River offers some of the best fly fishing in the nation, in an idyllic setting. Or cast your line in one of the area's many alpine lakes. The Sacramento River also invites kayakers and rafters or if you dare - try the white water of the nearby Klamath River. Summer activities abound with hiking or mountain biking local trails, climbing on Mt. Shasta, water skiing on McCloud Reservoir, or just stretching out on a lake beach and sunbathing. Sightseeing and birdwatching are also favorites, as well as hot air balloon rides and horsepack trips. Explore the charming mountain communities of Mt. Shasta, McCloud, Weed and Dunsmuir where you'll discover the work of a myriad of local artists and craftsmen, quaint gift shops and restaurants. Don't let the winter weather slow you down. The Mt. Shasta Ski Park offers downhill and cross country skiing as well as snowboarding and telemarking. The Ski Park is just 15 miles east of Mt. Shasta City and welcomes all skill levels. Lessons are also available daily. The Snowmobile Park near McCloud offers the outdoor enthusiast breathtaking views of majestic Mt. Shasta. Everitt Memorial Highway in Mt. Shasta City offers access for snowshoe hikes, snowboarding and cross-country skiing for those who prefer more seclusion.
